story · the beginning

A bean's story begins in the soil

True Mei Yuan Coffee Estate began cultivating coffee in 2018, bringing plants from Taiwu in Pingtung. That first stirring of feeling for the land became a way of giving back to nature — and a lasting commitment to the community around us. Carrying forward the spirit of the 2021–2022 "True Mei Yuan Taiwan Specialty Coffee Review — Origins", the estate keeps telling the story woven between coffee and the earth.

For a farmer, coffee is more than a crop. It is the sediment of years and feeling — the crystallisation of craft, the extension of memory. Every season of experience is written into land passed down through generations.

Perhaps those cherries, ripening red against the clay, are the ideal a lifetime has been spent pursuing.

terroir

Branches heavy with fruit —
a poem written by the forest

We grow under the forest canopy, following nature rather than forcing it. This land gives us aroma and character; we answer with patience and care. Only fully red cherries are picked by hand, washed in mountain spring water, then given to sun and wind. Adding nothing unnecessary is our technique.

  • 01

    It begins with the land

Long before the cherries turn red, the mountain air already carries the scent of the soil. Truly moving coffee comes from a deep conversation between people and the land.

  • 02

    From craft to feeling

Picking, processing, roasting and sorting — each step turns fruit into beans full of flavour and meaning, steeped in respect for nature and devotion to daily life.

  • 03

Beginning in the bean, continuing in the heart

"Zhu" (bamboo) and "Mei" (plum) stand for resilience and purity; "Yuan" (source) for continuity and first intentions. In a single cup of aroma, we hope you meet a story and the warmth of the land.
